The Playwrights’ Progress program sponsors the honorariums paid to the twenty-four finalists from the national playwriting competition whose work you will see in this festival. Aside from encouraging the progress of Canadian writing, the program also sponsors the cash awards presented to the first, second, and third place award winners. Awards will be announced on Sunday evening, July 29th, at 9:15 p.m. after the final performance of the Festival.
Donna and Ralph Goldman
Donna and Ralph Goldman are the proud sponsors of the Playwrights’ Progress program, and believe that supporting the arts in Canada is essential to the ongoing growth and development of our national identity.
The Goldmans have a long association with Newmarket. Their company, Pickering Properties Developments Limited, has been involved in developing and building industrial and commercial properties since the early 1970’s. One of their largest developments is now the site of Leon's, Holiday Inn, assorted car dealerships, and banks.
Another development, at Stephen Court and Mulock Drive, houses the popular Tuptim Thai restaurant and widely-known Newmarket Tire ‘N’ Mag.
We at the NNPF are grateful for the support of Donna and Ralph. They were instrumental in the growth and development of the town of Newmarket, and they are now instrumental in the growth and development of the NewMarket National Play Festival.
