Newmarket National Ten Minute Play Festival

New voices.  New Perspectives.  New Market.

Notice to Playwrights and Supporters of the NNPF:

As we are all aware, Covid-19 has taken its unrelenting toll on lives and livelihoods around the world.  Our thoughts and our prayers are with those who have suffered and continue to suffer from the effects of the virus.

While all aspects of the economy have been devastated, arts workers were amongst the first to be affected and will be among the last to see recovery from the disruption of this pandemic.

With no end to the suspension of public performances in sight, the NNPF has decided to keep our submission window closed for 2021.  Instead, play submissions from 2020 will still be given priority for production should a 2021 festival be possible.

At this time, no production decisions regarding the 24 plays from the 2020 cohort have been made.  Any decisions regarding NNPF productions will be made when a clear path forward presents itself.

In the meantime, all of us at the Festival look forward to our modern day “Restoration Theatre,” believing firmly that the arts will return renewed and ready for the challenges and changes that lie ahead.

Please stay well and stay safe until we can create together again, laugh together again, and celebrate together again all that makes us distinctly Canadian.

The NNPF is a Canadian Actors' Equity Association production under the Festival Policy.
